Humanity (2015)

humanity.edd.10.13.2015

Another new large format piece (24″ x 30″).  The shiny areas are a gloss paint (too much reflection in photo).  This just has an earthy, organic feel to me.  As I was looking at it I felt like I was seeing people with raised arms and reaching out to each other.  Wish we had more people reaching out to each other these days across nations, political spectrums, and social/economic boundary lines.  Guess I feel like it would be hard to hate another person if you take the time to understand their experience/journey.

Traveling People Pods

11 Aug

Slow down little people pod person. Slow down. Let’s have coffee, it’s on me. Traveling the same road; heading the same direction but on an entirely different universe. Sometimes I wonder who you are or what you care about or why you’re in such a hurry? This random moment, traveling past each other on the same road, may be the only time our orbits cross. And what will it matter?

Tangible

27 Jul

I’ve been working at a coffee shop all day.  In addition to it being a parade of interesting people and conversations its just a place I like to be.  I like the tangibility of it.  Holding the heavy coffee cup in hand, warm to the touch; savoring every sip of the tasty coffee.  Again, the happy endorphins invade everyday life.

I find that my mind and focus are engaged at a higher level while working in a coffee shop too.  Perhaps the ambient noises and distractions force one to focus above the din.  Perhaps its the vibrancy of being around other people and just experiencing life as it happens.  Perhaps I get lonely working in quiet spaces.

I got a lot done today and it feels good.  I’m contemplating a frozen margarita and some yummy Mexican food as a treat.  I’m going to say yes to me today.  And that feels good too.
