Well it seems as though it has been far too long since I’ve posted.  Life and work have been keeping my creative pace going a little slower than usual.  My first piece of 2016.  I just love losing myself in painted lines and lovely colors.

Smell the Flowers (2015)

22 Oct

As I was painting the lines started revealing the image of a face on the far right of the piece and I loved the strong, classical appearance of the face and I decided to paint a flower close by so it looked like this person was enjoying its beautiful aroma.  Once again, no agenda and what emerged surprised and delighted me!

Jump (2015)

The movement and flow of lines is the great delight of doing art for me.  Yes, I add color to it but only to highlight the exceptional beauty of what happens when lines converge.  Why this appeals to me I have no idea, but I can not escape my attraction to the simple beauty of the line.

Tiger Lily

I know its not tiger lily weather but I painted this one the other night.

Still Life: Daisies

Yellow is a happy color and daisies evoke happiness too.  This painting just makes me feel good.

Pink Rose

10 Oct

Saw a lovely pink rose in a photograph and decided to paint a rose.  I love the intricate layers of thin, delicate petals.  I always try to “unpack” the geometry of a rose and yet its shape and design seem to be an endless mystery.

Love is a Flower

I love this quote from John Lennon’s song, “Mind Games.”  This happy little flower was painted for someone I love.  Hope you enjoy it too.

Though I tend to be more of an autumn person, this painting makes me think of summer’s passing with a touch of nostalgia.
