Complexity (2017)

Complexity 2017

A new acrylic on paper.  This one captures the essence of the space I was in while creating it.  Truly lost in the sounds of jazz and the pleasure of a little wine.  Came together a little slower than typical but just decided to enjoy the journey on this one.

I have spent some time exploring the variety of visual landscapes present in this piece.  One of the things I always try to do is distance myself from the piece & experience it for myself as a unique creative entity.  Each piece has its own unique expressive code, I could not set out to recreate this piece and come anywhere close to replicating it.  I often stand on the other side of completing work on something & wonder where these expressions emerge from.  Are they from my mind?  Is it a tangible way of working out and expressing feelings and emotions?  All of the above?  Either way, what results is always more than just paint on paper.

Radiant (1620-32) (2015)

Not sure where this piece emerges from or what it is trying to say.  It came together in a seamless, smooth kind of way.  Depending on how I view it, sometimes I see a person standing with arms raised whose face is full of radiant beams of light.  From other angles, other aspects stand out for me.  What stands out for you?

A fun & happy piece to start off the week.  May it be a creative and productive one for us all!

Untitled 1620-1 (2015)

Had fun just going with a free-expression piece.  No point to this one, no agenda-just paint!  I did a background off-white wash that covered the whole page prior to adding the painted images.  Not sure what I think about this one but it does demand my gaze.
