Crossing Lines (2015)

crossinglines.edd.09.02.2015

My eleven year old son asked if I paint secret/hidden images into my paintings.  I told him not on purpose.  He said, “Well I see faces in this painting dad.”  He pointed out a couple of places in the painting where he said he saw faces.  I think it is interesting how every viewer of a work of art perceives and interprets that work.  Until he pointed that out I’d have looked at this piece for a thousand years and never seen faces.  I’ll be curious to hear how this piece connects and speaks to some of you as well.  Thanks as always for taking the time to view and interact with my work!

I think it’s an illustration of thoughts moving inside the head and some will get to be spoken and some not, and they know the difference because they look different – colors , etc.

Or – I also thought it looked like a crowd of people all going different ways, in one location but over a period of time (like time-lapse painting).

I could go on, but – I just like looking at it and not quite knowing what I think it is…

Claudia, I love your reflections on this piece. Very thoughtful and thought provoking. For me there is great beauty in the way a work of art can so dynamically trigger thought and reflection on so many different levels and so many different ways. Thank you for sharing your insights into this piece. Lovely!
