Terrain (Abstract)

27 Mar

This piece has a very natural feel to it.  Sky, earth, sun, water.  As I was painting the palette just came together.  I called it terrain because it has an almost topographical look to it, in a nonrepresentational way.

Pinpoint (Abstract)

25 Mar

Another geometric/linear abstract.  The thing that draws my attention back to this painting is the perspective the blue & red lines create.  If you follow them with your eye like you’re walking a path the perspective they create is fascinating, at least to me!

Geometric Landscape (Abstract)

24 Mar

I have been focusing much of my work on geometric & linear abstracts.  The interplay of line, shape, and color seems like a world of endless possibilities to me.

Angles & Points (Abstract)

21 Mar

Saw this sketch in my mind at the most inconvenient time of 2 am the other night.  Woke up, sketched it out, went back to bed, painted it yesterday.  Sigh…am I alone in that experience, I suspect not!  🙂

Circles (Abstract)

20 Mar

Another study in geometric & linear abstraction.  The interplay of lines, shape, and color really interests me.  I am finding endless possibilities here.  Its immensely enjoyable to start with a blank piece of watercolor paper and then sketch something out that emerged simultaneously from your imagination.  Very cool stuff and fun!  Prints available here.

Color Panes (Abstract)

19 Mar

My most recent piece.  I love the interactions between line, shape, and color.  It is the theme my work seems to explore most.

Orb (Abstract)

18 Mar

As I saw this piece coming together I was happy that all the lines seemed to be supporting the “orb” in the center.  I wanted to use warm and appealing colors.  The strong, prominent line really draws my attention toward the center of the painting.  I’m still having fun playing with line, shape, and color.  Quality prints of this piece are available at my Society6 store.
