What are you looking at (focusing on)? Is it distracting you, inspiring you, bringing you joy, or bringing you down? What we focus on can have such an impact on our souls.

I like your drawing. I like the candles, which could be stars. What I am focusing on now is not single-minded focus, as I usually have. (I explained to you about my family troubles.) I am taking a break. Next week, there is an alumni show at the art school I attended. I will have two pieces in that show (you have seen them: from “Afloat!”) My deadline to be less free floating, is, after I return. Then I will focus on my show. And my corresponding blog. Right now, I am trying to take some pressure off.

Hollis, so good to hear from you. You’re quite right about them looking like stars. I have been thinking about the importance of focus/perspective. Life’s rhythms can send us reeling if we don’t keep focused on what’s important. I’m glad that you are choosing to focus your attention where it needs to be because of recent events in your life. I’m glad to hear some of your pieces from Afloat will be on display at your alma mater, that’s a cool honor! So glad to hear from you!

Thanks, Eli! I tried to comment (at length) on your dot abstract, but there was a triangle with an exclamation point saying I was out of date or something like that! I encountered this on several posts I wanted to comment on. I guess I have been out of this too long. Although “they” let me comment on this one of yours.

I sooo agree! If you look through poop-colored glasses, chances are, the world will be brown. ;oP I love the optimistic potential in this painting. The possibilities…

Exactly! Optimism isn’t about putting one’s head in the sand, though it can degenerate to that. It is fundamentally about hope; where would any of us be without that!
