Patchwork (Abstract)

I enjoyed seeing this piece come together.  I sketched out the shapes then painted.  I used a fan brush and wanted to keep the lines between the shapes kind of undefined.  Felt a bit like a patchwork quilt when I was done.

The convergence and richness of color is something I find really attractive.  I want my work to be a celebration of color, of simplicity, and more important, to express simple beauty in unadorned yet appealing ways.

Another piece that came to life as I was painting it.  There are times I enjoy doing pieces that have an end in mind.  But the great joy for me is seeing a piece come to life.  That feeling is indescribable; it taps into our need to create and express.

The different hues in this one were enjoyable to play with.  Purple and violet are favorites for me.  There is something both comforting and mysterious about these colors.  They evoke peacefulness but also have an ethereal appeal.
