Winter Woods

Wanted to try something new.  Was snow shoeing the other day and as the afternoon fading into evening the colors were so incredible.  This scene emerged and then I decided to do something a little different with its presentation.

Bug

I like trying to follow the path these little guys are traveling on.  Their paths don’t look logical or even possible in some cases, kinda mirrors life don’t you think?  🙂

Spill (Abstract)

Simple colors and lines.  An additional splash of color with remaining paint spilling off the brush.  I’m attracting to the simplicity of this piece.

Sub-divide (Abstract)

Not sure how this came about.  I started sketching and this is what emerged.  I’m interested in hearing what others see when they view it.  I’d love to hear what you see!

Squiggles (Abstract)

20 Jan

untitledabstract.edd.01.18.2014

These attractive little squiggles have no beginning and no end.  I imagine them spinning and turning and floating around the frame when no one is watching.  I guess a lot of the work I’m producing right now has a whimsical quality.  Its a season I’m in artistically; one that I’m finding great enjoyment in.

Spring

Springs are interesting little objects.  When expanded they’re not of much use.  But when compressed they contain incredible energy and power.  What is in you waiting to spring into life or spring into action?

Curl/Octopus (Abstract)

There is an interesting flow and movement to this piece.  It seems the less restrictions I put on myself when I go into a piece the more it has a sense of movement.  Very much enjoying the emergence of these designs as I’m working on them!

The Stare

thestare.edd.01.14.2014

I sketched this image a couple nights ago and painted it yesterday.  It makes me think about focus and determination but also about sincerity and seriousness of attention to something that matters.  I used black/gray tones to hint at the face being that of a statue but I really wanted to convey something real, something true because I think his gaze is saying something.
